Star fish, or asteroidea (like our friend Patrick here), are known as echinodermata. Star fish have inner skeletons. Their skeletons consist of small, calcium rich bony plates. In order to move, they use their vascular system. In order to use their muscular systems around, they use their tube-like feet to create a suction impact on the water. This way of transportation makes them very slow.
